Members of the RCMP’s Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) have made two arrests in connection with a series of thefts of credit cards in the Halifax area.

A 34-year-old man from Lantz and a 34-year-old female from Lower Sackville were arrested on June 19 at a traffic stop in Eastern Passage two days after SCEU began investigating incidents of stolen credit cards.

The cards were stolen after car windows were smashed in at the Salt Marsh Trail on Bissett Road and at Rainbow Haven Beach. Before the cards could be cancelled, they were used at various places in the area.

There was also a similar incident at the MacDonald Sports Ball field in Waverley.

The male suspect is facing numerous charges including using a stolen credit card, fraud, theft of a credit card, mischief and possession of stolen property.

He is in police custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Friday.

The female has been charged for using the stolen credit cards and being an accessory to fraud. She will be appearing in court at a later date.
