A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Dartmouth and suffered minor injuries, Halifax Regional Police say.

The 25-year-old male pedestrian was struck at approximately 11:30 p.m. June 19 at the intersection of Portland Street and Alderney Drive.

Witnesses at the scene said the driver, a 56-year-old man, drove through a red light and hit the pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The driver was issued a ticket for failing to stop at a red light and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
