RCMP in Halifax say more than 150 arrested after nation-wide child porn investigation

RCMP officers from several provinces joined a a news conference in Halifax Thursday to announce the results of a national child porn investigation.

More than 150 people have been arrested and 343 charges laid as a result of Operation Snapshot III, ranging from luring to making and distributing child pornography.

Insp. Bob Resch of the RCMP said five children in four provinces were also rescued.

More than one million images were seized as a result of the operation, which began in February and involved 40 police agencies.

Investigators say two of the children who have been rescued are from British Columbia, and the other three are from Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.

Eleven search warrants were carried out in Nova Scotia, and 10 people have been charged.

The searches in Halifax and subsequent charges:

May 22: search warrant, Stoneybrook Court, Halifax. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.

May 8: Tenshire Court, Sackville: John Albert Marknette, 36 – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

March 25: Lakecrest Drive, Dartmouth: Brighton Spencer, 33 – Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

Feb. 28: Westerwaki Street, Haifax: Leonard Gerard MacNeil, 56 – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

Feb. 13: Allan Street, Halifax: Robert William Aiden Harris, 46 – Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 27: Bridgewater: Unnamed man, 50: Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 16: Hilden: Unnamed man, 21. Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 15: Chalet Crescent, Brooklyn, Hants County: Taylor Jacob Robertson, 20 – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 14: Hanway Road, Port Morien: Mark Edward Graham, 27 – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 13: Lynch Drive, Sydney River: Jeffrey MacFadgen, 23 – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.

May 13: Victoria Road, Sydney: Unnamed man, 36. – Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.
