RCMP are investigating after they say a 17-year-old girl was hit by an SUV driven by another teen in Cole Harbour.

Around 3:40 p.m. Monday, RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Bradorian Drive involving a young woman and a SUV.

According to a release, police found the injured teen laying on the ground by a vehicle.  RCMP said other people had been helping by keeping her covered from the rain until paramedics arrived.

Officers learned the SUV had struck the female as it was passing a parked vehicle, said the RCMP.  The collision took off the side mirrors on both vehicles.

The 17-year-old was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said the 16-year-old male driver of the SUV stopped after the collision, but no charges have been laid yet.

An investigation is continuing.
