Friends and family of a Loretta Saunders are growing more concerned as the Halifax woman hasn’t been seen for nearly a week.
Saunders, 26, was reported missing Feb. 17 after she was last seen Feb.13 leaving her apartment in Cowie Hill. She was in contact with friends through online messaging the next day, but there has been nothing since then.
Delilah Terriak, Saunders’ sister, started the Facebook group Help Bring Loretta Saunders home and planned to fly back to Halifax from British Columbia on Wednesday.
“My heart is breaking more and more as time passes and my sister is the one who encourages and inspires me to persevere,” Terriak wrote in a Facebook post.
“Help bring my best friend and sister home.”
Terriak’s friend Bridget Broussard, who she works with in British Columbia, said Terriak hadn’t been concerned about Saunders for the first few days, but is now “really worried
“It’s really, really unlike her at all and she tells Delilah everything,” said Broussard.
Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Pierre Bourdage said Saunders’ family from Newfoundland and Labrador reported her missing.
“There’s no indication she went back there, although it’s possible,” said Bourdages. “It’s very unusual from her to not be in contact with anyone.”
Saunders, a Saint Mary’s University student, is described as five-foot-seven, 120 pounds with light brown straight hair. She is believed to be driving a blue 2000 Toyota Celica with the Newfoundland and Labrador license plate of HCP 543, and a loud aftermarket muffler.

The Halifax Regional Police /RCMP Integrated Vice Unit is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing Halifax woman.
Twenty-six-year-old Loretta Saunders was reported missing to police Feb. 17. She was last seen in Halifax on the evening of Feb. 13 and was in contact with friends online the next afternoon.
Saunders has not been in contact with friends and family since, which is out of character for her.
Saunders is described as a Caucasian ,five-foot-seven-inch, 120 pound woman, with light brown, straight hair. She is believed to be driving a blue 2000 Toyota Celica bearing Newfoundland licence plate HCP 543. The car has a loud muffler and a spoiler at the back. Saunders is originally from Newfoundland.
Police say there is no information to suggest that Saunders has met with foul play; however, police are concerned for her well-being. Officers request that Saunders, or anyone with information on her whereabouts, calls police at 490-5016
