Rain changing over to snow Saturday evening has led to slippery road conditions in much of Nova Scotia.

Provincial RCMP issued an advisory at 8 p.m. Jan. 18 reminding motorists to use caution out on the roads tonight, especially the 100 series highways, due to icy and snowy road conditions.

RCMP say have responded to a number of accidents already, including one in Lunenburg County at 7:30 p.m. when a RCMP vehicle was involved in a collision as the officer was stopped to help another motorist.  No one was injured and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Police are also reminding motorists to adjust their driving habits and be mindful of the change of road conditions: slow down, allow extra time and allow extra stopping distance.

Drivers are also asked to be alert to emergency personnel and, when approaching emergency vehicles, reduce speed and move over to another lane, if available.
