Kentville is asking interested real estate brokers to propose solutions for the former Kings County Academy site.
At a Jan. 15 meeting, the council advisory committee recommended that council declare the 25 School Street property surplus and issue a request for proposals for commercial real estate services to market the property.
In addition, the committee recommended the former elementary school building on the site be demolished if no reasonable offer is received by March 1.
The 7.12-acre property was transferred to the town by the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board last fall.
Proposals and the committee’s recommendations are expected to come before town council Jan. 28.
