Supreme Court Justice Gregory M. Warner has found no change in the official results of October's municipal election in Wolfville.
The recount of ballots cast Oct. 18 took place in Kentville Nov. 12. Candidate Eric Hughes, who initially was told he was successful, now remains in seventh place, where the official count placed him. Well-known grocer Carl Oldham had captured the sixth, and last, seat.
The swearing-in ceremony for new and returning councillors took place last night. The three incumbents are Hugh Simpson, David Mangle and Bill Zimmerman. The three successful newcomers are Jim Laceby, Keith Irving and Oldham.
Mayor Bob Stead said, “I am determined to make this new council work to the benefit of the town as we always have.” The mayor hopes to get the town working in a new direction.
"If we change the process, we'll have a better community. I plan to refocus, look inward and help the community meet its goals," he suggested.
