Car turns into path of motorcycle at bottom of Burns Hill

A 50-year-old Clementsvale man suffered serious head injuries when his motorcycle struck a car that crossed in front of him as it turned off Highway 1 Tuesday evening in Cornwallis.

Annapolis RCMP said the crash happened at about 9 p.m. at the foot of Burns Hill Road where it meets Highway 1. Cpl. Dale Guy said the westbound car was on Highway 1 and was stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Burns Hill Road. The driver of the car waited for an eastbound vehicle to go by but didn’t see the second eastbound vehicle, the motorcycle, made the turn and caused the collision.

Cpl. Guy said the motorcycle hit the right, front fender of the car propelling the bike rider into the car’s windshield and then onto the road. He said Bear River firefighters, EHS, and department of transportation were also on the scene. He said a LifeFlight helicopter was requested.

Police said the driver of the car was also from Annapolis County. He said the occupants of that vehicle were shaken but not injured.

A traffic analyst was called to the scene and the road was closed for more than an hour.

Cpl. Guy said the investigation continues.
