Parts of Nova Scotia are under severe thunderstorm watch Aug. 28.
Environment Canada the Annapolis Valley and northern Nova Scotia under a severe thunderstorm watch.
Annapolis, Kings and Hants counties, along with Cumberland and Colchester, are included in the alret issued 12:30 p.m. Aug. 28, weather conditions could result in thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms forecast to form this afternoon under a low over the region may give rainfall amounts in excess of 25 mm per hour locally.
The weather agency is also warning of the possibilty of hail, strong wind gusts and intense lightning if storms develops.
"Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes," the alert states. "In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors."
