Canning firefighters responded to a two-car collision and a motorcycle crash on Aug. 19.

Deputy Chief Jeff Skaling said two cars were involved in a head-on collision on North Avenue between Rabbit Square and Bessie North Road. Firefighters were paged at about 2:15 p.m. The RCMP and Emergency Health Services paramedics also responded to the scene.

Skaling said there was one occupant in each vehicle. One had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life.

“Both were transported to Valley Regional with undetermined injuries,” Skaling said.

At around 4:30 p.m., Canning firefighters were paged a motorcycle that “hit some significant potholes” on Saxon Street near Middle Dyke Road in Sheffield Mills. The driver lost control.

Skaling said firefighters assisted EHS paramedics and the driver was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. Firefighters were on the scene for about 20 minutes.
