Photos like this one can be entered in the Osprey’s “A Weekend in the Life of Shelburne County” show and contest.
If you can take a photo, the Osprey wants you. The local arts centre is looking for anyone with a phone, tablet or camera to take photos on the weekend of Aug. 16-17 for inclusion in an upcoming exhibition of pictures called “A Weekend in the Life of Shelburne County.”
The photos will be printed and displayed in the Osprey’s Coastline Gallery – aka, the lobby – in an exhibition that opens on Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. That’s the evening of the “Asbury Short Film Festival” with guest musician Peter Healy. Entrants are encouraged to attend the opening and to stay for the short films and music.
Participants are encouraged to submit photos of anything they’d like – landscape, people, activities – as long as they are taken within Shelburne County. The photos can be altered with the use of apps or other programs such as Instagram or Photoshop. Organizers are hoping for lots of creativity.
Each participant may submit as many photos as they like, but the Osprey requires a $5 fee for each photo entered to pay for processing. Photos and payments must be received by Monday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m.
The photos will be judged by two professional photographers for prizes that include a photo printing package and frame worth $75 provided by TLC Pharmacy as well as other cash prizes for best of show, people’s choice and runners up. All photos will be for sale for $5 each.
Entries can be emailed to the Osprey at firstname.lastname@example.org. Payment can be made by mail or in person at the Osprey Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 4:30. For more information, contact the Osprey Arts Centre at 875-2359.
