A driver has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a tractor trailer rolled over on Highway 14 in Brooklyn.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Aug. 11, Windsor District RCMP, Emergency Health Services (EHS), Brooklyn Fire and Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover involving a tractor trailer.

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver was traveling east on Highway 14, near the Newport and District Arena, when he lost control of his vehicle.

Cst. Ian Murphy, with the Windsor District RCMP, said the truck was carrying steel wiring.

“The load shifted as he came through the turn and (the truck) tipped over,” said Murphy.

The driver was taken to the Hants Community Hospital as a precautionary measure.

“He went with EHS to be assessed at the hospital. He was complaining of some neck pain,” noted Murphy.

The eastbound lane is currently shut down and traffic is being re-routed through Mantua, Hants County. It is estimated traffic will be affected until mid-afternoon while the truck and its load are removed.

I am seriously waiting for that to happen at this end of the 14. Particularly love those jake brakes coming up to the stop sign at the corner of the 14 and New Ross Rd after those fully loaded logging trucks have come blasting down that twisty, turning road probably going too fast for safety for themselves, the public and their loads and are hitting the brakes at the last minute to make the stop sign. Time will tell.
