Kings County residents will get the chance to see 14 Wing Greenwood and the Canadian Armed Forces in action on Aug. 20.

14 Wing will open its doors to the public for Armed Forces Day, a free, fun-filled family event. From 1-6 p.m., people can check out static displays, and at 2:30 p.m., 14 Wing aircraft will put on an aerial display. The Snowbirds will follow with an aerial display at 4 p.m., with a CF18 aerial demo at 5 p.m. The evening will wrap up with the Sunset Ceremony from 6:30-8:15 p.m.

Residents in the area can expect increased aircraft activity during the day and evening throughout the Annapolis Valley. Due to the large number of expected visitors, traffic will increase travel times around Greenwood. Parking capacity on base is large but demand is also expected to be high.

Those planning to visit 14 Wing are reminded that security screening will be in effect and people will be subject to search. Visitors are asked not to bring large items, such as coolers, backpacks or duffle bags.
