Breathalyzer offence

Mitchell Eric Salter, 52, of Centre Burlington, has been fined for having the care or control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

Salter pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 5. Judge Claudine MacDonald fined Salter a total of $1,820 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.

Salter committed the offence in Windsor on June 1. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Salter gave breathalyzer readings of 220 and 200.

 

Time deemed served, probation for assault

William Francis Walsh, 42, of Newport, has been sentenced to time deemed served and probation for the included offence of assault.

Walsh pleaded not guilty to the original charge of committing aggravated assault by disfiguring an individual on July 14. The matter was adjourned for trial but Walsh changed his plea to guilty to the lesser, included offence of assault on Aug. 5. MacDonald sentenced Walsh to one day in custody deemed served and 12 months of probation.

Walsh committed the offence in Windsor on July 10.
