Digby General Hospital
Digby General Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed for 12 hours during the day tomorrow:
Wednesday, July 30 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
This closure is because of an unexpected and temporary physician shortage. South West Health apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause.
South West Health advises Digby area residents requiring emergency services during the hours of closure to visit the nearest open emergency department or collaborative emergency centre. They suggest you call first to ensure it is open.
South West Health also reminds the public to dial 911 in the case of a health emergency; paramedics can administer live saving treatment during transport to hospital.
In non-emergency situations, they suggest you call 811 to speak to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week for advice. People experiencing a mental health issue can call the 24/7 mental health crisis line: 1-888-429-8167.
