Probation for assault
A North Kentville man has been given a suspended sentence and probation for an August 2013 assault.
Scott Matthew Pulsifer, 35, was charged with assault causing bodily harm to another man on Aug. 26, 2013 in New Minas. He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge in December, but changed his plea to guilty during a May 1 court appearance.
On June 25, Judge Alan Tufts gave Pulsifer a suspended sentence and 18 months probation. He also ordered Pulsifer to pay $238.44 in restitution to his victim and granted a DNA order.
Fined for impaired driving
Joshua Martin Levy, 25, was fined in Kentville provincial court June 26 for impaired driving.
The Leville, Lunenburg County, man initially pleaded not guilty in November 2013, but changed his plea to guilty at the June trial date. Judge Alan Tufts fined him $1,150 and issued a one-year driving prohibition.
The offence occurred in Kentville on Oct. 13, 2013. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood; Levy’s breathalyser readings were 140/100.
Probation on sex assault
A New Minas man has been given a conditional discharge and six months of probation on a charge of sexual assault.
Matthew Gordon Masters, 37, was in Kentville provincial court June 26 for a trial, but changed his plea to guilty. In addition to probation, Judge Alan Tufts issued a 10-year Sex Offender Information Registration Act order against Masters.
The assault on a male victim took place Feb. 15, 2013, in Kentville.
