The provincial government is warning seniors about private companies selling personal alert systems.
A release from the Department of Health and Wellness states that reports have been received about a representative of Freedom Home Living Solutions selling systems at seniors’ homes.
The representative claims the company is contracted by the Department of Health and Wellness – but doesn’t deliver the equipment after getting paid.
The release states that the Better Business Bureau has an alert on its website about Freedom Home Living Solutions, and states the business does not have a permit to operate in Nova Scotia under the Direct Sellers Act.
The department doesn’t have a contract with any personal alert system vendor. Anyone who is approached by a vendor and has concerns about legitimate business practices is encouraged to contact the Better Business Bureau or police.
