Two brothers have been charged following a car crash and 14 vehicle break-ins in Canning on June 10 and 11. A third brother may also face charges, say the Kings RCMP.

Kings RCMP received a report of two stolen vehicles from Canning that occurred overnight on June 11. One of the stolen vehicles was spotted on highway 101 near Wolfville at 10 a.m. travelling at a very high rate of speed. It was spotted a short time later driving dangerously in a school zone.

Just after that, a vehicle crash was reported on Sunken Lake Road. The vehicle involved was a 2001 Saturn stolen from the Canning area the night before. The keys to the Saturn had been left in the cup holder.

Two Canning brothers were arrested in relation to the stolen vehicles and a string of thefts from vehicles in Canning that occurred June 10 and 11. A third brother, age 20, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and possible charges to follow.

Kodey James Sinclair Melvin, 22, and his 18-year-old brother, Jessie Robert Melvin, both of no fixed address, face 26 charges each. They were arraigned in Kentville court on June 12.

They are each facing nine charges of theft under $5,000; nine charges of trespassing at night; five charges of possession of stolen property and individual charges of resisting arrest, breach of probation, breach of a court recognizance and possession of a substance. Between the two they face a total of 52 charges. They were arrested by Kings District RCMP in Canning and Sunken Lake on June 11, respectively.

Both have been remanded to appear in court on June 23 in Kentville provincial court.

Kings RCMP began receiving complaints of break-ins of vehicles in the Canning area on June 10. Then, at 4:07 a.m. on June 11, a suspicious car was noted and someone was spotted going through a vehicle. A truck parked at a business was reported stolen and there was also a report of an attempt to gain entry to another vehicle.

At 9:32 a.m. on June 11, some items were reported stolen from another unlocked vehicle. Later, six more similar reports came into police.

Don't you worry boys the judge will set you free to continue your destructive ways to the honest working person. When in fact you should be made to work for a living and get off the system we pay for. But that'll never happen.

Names are public now, facebook gives the address of the individuals and locations where to find them via pictures. I think the safest thing for them right now would be to get some jail time.
