Participants and staff at the Cornerstone day program of L’Arche Homefires in Wolfville are getting excited about their upcoming art show on June 20.
The Cornerstone day program of L’Arche Homefires in Wolfville will be holding their fourth annual art show and sale on June 20.
Assistant Birgit Elssner said the art that will be sold was created by program participants, core members and community contributions.
A member of the Newcomers’ Club, Heather Berryman, has even contributed a piece of rug hooking.
“We have a wide definition of art,” Elssner said.
Currently, staff at Cornerstone has collected 35 pieces, but they anticipate a total of 50.
“I know it’s ambitious, but we are hoping to raise $2,000,” she said.
She noted that a large-scale mystery art piece will be auctioned, but it will hopefully be hung as a centerpiece in the new hall. All funds raised by the sale will go toward the renovation project.
The total price tag to renovate the old parish hall stands at about $2 million. The hall will be extended forward to create 11,100 square feet of space.
An elevator, storefront, a large weaving studio and office space will be accommodated, as well as the Cornerstone and Discoveries programs.
The art sale and auction will take place from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at the L’Arche hall on Main Street.
