The driver and lone occupant of a vehicle that left the road in Smith’s Cove suffered serious injuries.

Dispatch called out paramedics, firefighters and the RCMP at 6:30 this morning after a call to 911 about a car off the road at the Smith’s Cove end of South Old Post Road also known as the Acacia Valley Road or River Road.

Firefighters from Digby and Smith’s Cove used the jaws of life to remove the driver side door and the whole roof of the car to free the woman.

Judging by tracks at the scene, the driver failed to make the turn at the bottom of the hill coming down the Lansdowne Road, went into the ditch and across the top of the gravel road before coming to rest against several small trees.
