Participants in the 18th century military encampment, set up at Memorial Park, found some relief from the warm temperatures under one of the tents set up at the display.

The 2nd Battalion of the 84th Regiment of Foot, based in Halifax, will be holding an encampment and re-enactment in Kentville from May 30 until June 1.

All are welcome to drop by the encampment, which will be set up on part of the Memorial Park complex, any time during the two days. Admission is free.

The encampment re-enactment will include black powder demos, demonstrations with the Royal Artillery, ‘Dressing as a Highlander’, as well as 18th century cooking and displays of other long-forgotten skills.

Thank you for having us this year for the 82nd Apple Blossom festival. We enjoyed having everyone visiting our camp and the warm welcome we got from everyone. If enough people speak up and tell your local council members perhaps we could come back next year. :-) with more soldiers!! and Bagpipes!
