Citing confidentiality and privacy issues, the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board is not commenting on an alleged incident this week that resulted in the removal of a teacher at Kings County Academy in Kentville.

When contacted on May 9, AVRSB communications spokesperson Kristen Loyst confirmed a staff member had been removed from the P-8 school following what she described only as a “personnel matter involving a teacher.”

The board’s policy is not to discuss personnel matters in public forum, or comment on them to the media.

“We can’t get into a public discussion of personnel matters,” Loyst said. “We have to maintain confidentiality and privacy.”

The board office was also unable to confirm whether the teacher in question had been dismissed or simply suspended.

Not surprised....too bad the issues at an elementary school in a neighbouring school were hidden.

If one of my children was attending KCA and I learned that a teacher had been either suspended or dismissed, I sure would want to know what prompted this step being taken.
