A New Minas man charged with allegedly attempting to choke a woman with the intent of committing fraud will be back in court later this month.
James Sherwood, 29, is charged with attempting to choke a woman by putting her in a chokehold with the intent to enable himself to commit fraud; uttering a threat to burn the woman’s house; assault; and committing mischief by willfully damaging the woman’s house to a value not exceeding $5,000.
Sherwood was present in Kentville provincial court on May 5. The matters were adjourned to May 20 for election and plea.
The charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred in New Minas on April 6.
