Team Nova Scotia picked up another win at the Atlantic Midget Female Hockey Championships in Deer Lake, NL.

Two Kings County residents are playing on the East Hants Pro Cresting Penguins team representing Nova Scotia – goalie Kate Spooner and forward Courtney Foster.

The East Hants team picked up a 3-2 win over PEI April 5.

“Slow start to the game, but as soon as we got that first goal we got going,” said Spooner. “The game went into overtime and in the first minute my goalie partner, Claire Warren, made a huge glove save and then Madison Clarke got the winner, a nice goal.”

East Hants lost its first game 1-0 against Newfoundland April 4, then went on to play the host team, winning 8-0 when Spooner had a shutout.

Nova Scotia will face off against New Brunswick at 4 p.m. this afternoon. The bronze and gold medal games will be played April 6.
