Even though the number of storm days so far this school year has been ‚Äúhigh compared to the last number of years,‚ÄĚ it isn‚Äôt yet a cause for too much concern yet, according to Annapolis Valley Regional School Board superintendent Margo Tait.
Tait reported at the board’s April 2 meeting in Berwick there had been 12 storm days in Annapolis County, 11 in Kings County and 10 in West Hants so far this year.
‚ÄúThere have been other years we‚Äôve had that many, but not since 2008-2009,‚ÄĚ she said, adding that she felt the number of storm days was ‚Äúdefinitely above average.‚ÄĚ
The superintendent said the focus, especially now, is to maximize learning time for students.
‚ÄúWe‚Äôre asking administrators, teachers and school staff to be cautious in making decisions that impact instruction time,‚ÄĚ for the remainder of the school year. That means, she said, ‚Äúsome of the ‚Äėnice to do‚Äô things might need to wait.‚ÄĚ
