The Kingston Village Commission has a temporary vacancy after Commissioner Scott Peckford resigned in early January.
Peckford, who had been a commissioner for the past nine years and held the sewers portfolio, recently moved outside the village limits. As he is no longer a village ratepayer, he was no longer eligible to serve as a village commissioner.
At their recent meeting, the village commission accepted Peckford’s resignation and decided the position would remain vacant until the next scheduled election in late May.
It was also noted that Peckford’s term of office was scheduled to expire this year.
Nominations to fill the vacancy will be accepted from May 1-14. An advance poll is scheduled for May 27, with election day set for May 31.
The village’s annual general meeting will be held May 29.
