Visitors to the trails and grounds of the former 14 Wing Greenwood Horse and Recreation Club, 10695 Highway #201 (Ward Road), Meadowvale, Kings/Annapolis County, are advised that access to the property is now being restricted.

The horse and recreation facility closed in the spring of 2011, but access to the 178-acre property’s network of paths and trails was not controlled.  The main access off Ward Road will soon be gated in preparation for the sale of the property.

Until the property is formally disposed of, the gate and “No Trespassing” signage now in place will be enforced by 14 Wing officials for insurance, liability and security reasons.

I have only been back a short time but since hearing about the riding club I have been going there everyday as it is a great place to let your dog go off leash. the trails are beautiful and is used by many people as a means for exercise not only for the dogs but the people that use it too.The base has known about people using the club for a long time and was never a problem and certainly should not be now. I have never seen anyone littering or doing any kind of damage in the time I have been walking or going anywhere near the buildings..As to the insurance or liability issue its been there all the time and was never a problem before as the base has known for years of the people using it and were not worried then as they shouldn't be now as I think a sign saying "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" should suffice as it does every where else. Please rethink your actions and for once show us that our tax dollars are being used for the people and not the senate. Surely someone in this decision making process has half a brain and can see the merits of letting people still use the club until sold. THANK YOU

This does not surprise me. The military is a farce. It is more like the mafia than anything else. I have never heard of such a corrupt institution. This is only being done out of spite. There is no danger there for all of the dog walkers that utilize the many horse trails that have been left from useage of so many years. If they were concerned about the structure which there is no concern than why not fence the structure off and let the grounds be used for such a good use - dog walking trails. I can tell you many a story about the corruption that goes on at that base. Their time is coming.
