Town of Kentville awarded a tender for water main storm and sanitary sewer at a recent meeting.
The work included water main, storm and sanitary sewer renewals on Exhibition Street and Caldwell Avenue, storm sewer renewal on Woodworth Road and a water main review on Chester Avenue.
The original budget for the work was $673,700, public works director Fred Whynot told council, and the lowest bid was for $657,490 from Howard Little Excavating. Council voted to defer part of the work – a second layer of asphalt on Exhibition Street at a cost of $97,325 – until the next fiscal year, and awarded the project to Little for an estimated price of $560,165 plus tax. The deferred project was also awarded to Little and will be done in spring 2014.
