Murphy Lake resident Tony Allan Nickerson was back in Kentville provincial court recently to enter a plea to charges stemming from a June shooting in Kentville.
The 45-year-old Nickerson is charged with attempted murder, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, aggravated assault, use of a firearm to commit a criminal offence and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Nickerson was arrested June 14 at his home in connection with a shooting that took place on the same day at 534 Park Street in Kentville. Police were called to a home in the early morning hours where a man was allegedly shot. The victim of the shooting was transported to a Halifax hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
During his court appearance, Nickerson entered not guilty pleas to all six charges and chose trial by provincial court judge. Presiding Judge Claudine MacDonald set aside two days, March 25 and 26, for trial proceedings.
Nickerson remains free on bail with conditions, including a ban on possessing weapons, until he returns to court.
