NDP fisheries critic Peter Stoffer.
Peter Stoffer, the Member of Parliament for Sackville-Eastern Shore and well-known advocate for Canadian veterans and seniors, will be the guest speaker at a community dinner coming up in Berwick.
The dinner is being hosted by Branch #69 Ortona of the Royal Canadian Legion on Oct. 25. As well as its own membership, an invitation has been extended to Legion members from branches in Canning, Wolfville, Kentville and Kingston to hear Stoffer speak.
The menu will feature a roast beef dinner, being served at 6 p.m. A reception precedes the dinner at 5:30 p.m.
Stoffer currently serves as official opposition Critic for Veterans Affairs. He has a long history of being active in community and environmental initiatives and sport organizations and has received the Veterans Ombudsman Commendation Award for advancing issues on behalf of veterans and their families.
Tickets to the event are $15 per person and can be purchased until Oct. 17 by calling the Berwick Legion branch after 4 p.m. at 538-9340 or Paul Ward at 538-3361.
