Beware of strangers at the door.
An elderly woman called the RCMP last week after a strange appeared at her door purporting to represent an alarm company.
He claimed to be from a credible firm, but did not have identification. The woman noted that he was not wearing a uniform or in possession of a company vehicle, so she did not allow him in.
Community policing officer Const. Blair MacMurtery said she did the right thing. Without proper credentials, he added, “do not let them in your house.”
“You have the right to call the company and confirm they are who they say they are,” he said. “Take precautions with strangers at the door.”
