A Canada Creek man has been sentenced on drug possession and firearm charges. Bradley Charles MacDonald, 34, was originally charged with unlawfully possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm and possessing a firearm without a license. He pled guilty to the lesser, included offence of unlawfully possessing cocaine and pled guilty to the remaining charges on Sept. 24.
Judge Claudine MacDonald fined MacDonald $460 for unlawfully possessing cocaine, $345 for careless storage of a firearm and $345 for possessing a firearm without a license. MacDonald was sentenced to nine months of probation on the three charges.
The court imposed a five-year firearm prohibition order against MacDonald in relation to the firearm charges. A forfeiture of firearms hearing has been set for Oct. 2 in relation to the charge of possessing a firearm without a license.
Lisa Dawn Louise Trimper, 28, was originally charged as a co-accused with MacDonald, but all charges against her were dropped on Sept. 24.
A news release issued by the Kings RCMP on July 18 stated that the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, along with Kingston RCMP members, stopped a vehicle north of Berwick in Canada Creek around midnight on July 17.
The driver and female passenger were arrested during the vehicle stop for possession for the purpose of trafficking. Police seized cocaine from the vehicle and the two were held in custody. The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant on a Black Rock address where firearms were seized.
