Brett Dylan Long, 18, of Centreville, has been fined for having the care or control of a motor vehicle while his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol or a drug.
Long pled guilty to the charge on Sept. 16. Judge Brian Gibson fined Long a total of $1,150 and imposed a one-year driving prohibition against him.
Long committed the offence in Port Williams on July 27, 2013. The legal blood alcohol limit is 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. Long gave breathalyser readings of 120 and 120.
Andrew Ross Baltzer, 19, of Kentville, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for mischief and two counts of failing to comply with his undertaking.
Baltzer pled guilty to the two undertaking charges on June 10. He had originally been charged with break, enter and theft from Degraaf’s Kwikway, but pled guilty to the lesser, included offence of mischief on June 10. The matters were adjourned to Sept. 16 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
Judge Brian Gibson handed Baltzer a conditional discharge with 15 months of probation on the three charges.
Baltzer committed the offences in Canning on March 26 and in Kentville on April 6 and 13.
Stole from store
Donald Jeffrey Clark, 43, of New Minas, has been fined for stealing property from Walmart valued at less than $5,000.
Clark pled guilty to the charge on Sept. 16 and was fined $100.
Clark committed the offence in New Minas on July 10.
Clyde Strowbridge, 54, of Berwick, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for two counts of failing to comply with his recognizance.
Strowbridge pled not guilty to the charges on Sept. 3. The matters were adjourned to Sept. 16 for trial, but Strowbridge changed his pleas to guilty. Judge Brian Gibson handed Strowbridge a suspended sentence with six months of probation.
Strowbridge committed the offences in Berwick on Aug. 23 and 24.
Theft, undertaking offences
Michael Anthony Brown, 36, of Greenwich, was in Kentville court Sept. 18 for sentencing.
Brown pleaded not guilty to three charges of stealing from Nova Scotia Liquor Commission and two charges of failing to comply with an undertaking during a March 25 court appearance. He was not present for the scheduled May 22 trial, but did appear in court June 3 and changed his pleas to guilty.
Judge Claudine MacDonald handed Brown a six-month conditional sentence order on all five charges, which took place in January and February, to be served concurrently.
Adam Ralph Caroll Joudrey, 22, of Bridgewater, was in Kentville court Sept. 18 for sentencing on three drug-related charges. Joudrey was charged in June 2012 with possession of cocaine, marijuana and methylphenidate (Ritalin) in Avonport. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Dec. 2, 2012, but changed his plea to guilty during a June 3 court appearance. Judge Claudine MacDonald handed Joudrey a suspended sentence with nine months probation.
