A youth who took part in the theft of two vehicles in Digby County in late August has been sentenced to six months in a group home and 18 months probation.
The identity of the 17-year-old is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Meanwhile Dylan Small, 20, of Digby is in jail awaiting a court appearance in Digby on Thursday, Sept. 19. He faces six charges resulting from the same wild series of events overnight Saturday, Aug. 24 into the early morning hours Sunday, Aug. 25.
A vehicle was stolen that night from the Weymouth area and then involved in a collision with a vacant commercial building in the St. Bernard area.
A RCMP press release from Aug. 25 says Small suffered serious injuries in that collision and the men used a vehicle, stolen in the Digby area, to transport him to Digby General Hospital, where the RCMP caught up with them about 2 a.m.
Small was later transported to the Kentville Hospital to be treated for serious non life-threatening injuries.
Small faces two charges of stealing a vehicle, two breaches of probation, a charge of public mischief and a charge of driving without a licence.
The youth pleaded guilty to theft of a vehicle and breach of probation and the Crown withdrew seven other charges.
