The court varied an undertaking for a Greenwood woman charged with numerous counts of sexual assault and sexual touching involving youths.

Angela Carrie Vernon, 34, is facing nine counts of sexual assault and nine of sexual touching involving youths under age 16. She also faces two counts of unlawfully harbouring an individual under the age of 14 years with the intent of depriving the parent of the child possession of the child.

The charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred in Greenwood between Dec. 1, 2010 and March 23, 2011, and in Aylesford between March 1 and 29, 2011. The charges involve seven youths.

During an August 10 appearance in Kentville Provincial Court, a clause in an undertaking was deleted requiring Vernon to remain within Nova Scotia.

Vernon entered not guilty pleas to four counts of sexual assault and four counts of touching a person under the age of 16 years directly with a part of her body for a sexual purpose- her hands – June 1.

Vernon was not present in court June 20, but not guilty pleas were entered on her behalf to the five remaining charges of sexual assault, five remaining charges of sexual touching and two counts of unlawfully harbouring a youth.

All matters have been adjourned to Nov. 9 for trial. The trial is expected to take a full day.

There is a publication ban in place covering the names of the complainants and any information leading to their identity.

A publication should be issued to the town she chooses to reside in while she awaits her trial!
