Yarmouth Hydrants Color Coded

Very shortly all Yarmouth hydrants will be showing a bit of color rather than the all yellow we are accustomed to seeing. The caps at the top of the hydrant will be painted various colors to designate the gallons per minute of flow, which will assist firefighters as they approach a fire needing water. A light blue top has a capacity of 1500 GPM or greater which is indicates a large water line. Green would provide 1000 GPM up to 1499. Orange has a rating of 500 to 999 GPM, red less than 500 GPM. Hydrants not connected to the Towns water system would provide their own color code.

The conference included hands on training and workshops/speakers from the United States and Canada. Carbon Monoxide Kills

How do you know it’s there? YOU DON’T! It is colorless- you can’t see it. It is odorless- you can’t smell it. It is tasteless- you can’t taste it.

The Barbecue Season

For your safety everyone should follow the following safety rules.

1. If you smell gas shut off the supply.

2. Shut off burner control.

3. Extinguish and open flames.

4. Open grill lid.

5. And be sure to check the barbecue for leaks before using it.
