Waterville and District Fire Department has answered six alarms since the beginning of April.

April 1 at 18:44, crews received a call for an oil spill on Highway 1 in Cambridge. Crews placed oil absorbent pads in the area to collect the oil, returning at 19:41.

Later the same day, at 23:55 , the department responded to a smoke condition at a home on Ronald Avenue in Cambridge. Firefighters returned at just after midnight.

April 2, there was a chimney fire on Cambridge Road at 20:29. Equipment was returned at 21:41.

April 5 at 6:56, the department was dispatched to a single vehicle accident on the corner of Waterville Mountain Road and Prospect Road. Firefighters were cleared at 7:17.

April 6 at 16:34, a residential fire alarm on Prospect Road in Cambridge was reported to firefighters. Crews returned at 17:04 after checking on the situation and finding it was accidentally activated.

April 15 at 19:46, the department answered a call for a brush fire near Michelin. Crews extinguished it quickly and returned at 21:13.

A chicken barbecue will be held May 23 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the fire hall. Advance tickets only! Price is $8.50. Take out or delivery with 10 orders or more. For info, call Tim at 538-0725. Proceeds towards the new rescue truck.
