NSP waiting for go-ahead from fire department

Nova Scotia Power

Update: 2:40 p.m. July 13

According to the Nova Scotia Power website, electricity has been restored to homes in the area that had been in the dark since the fire broke out.

Earlier story:

Nova Scotia Power is waiting for the go-ahead from the fire department to restore the power to approximately 300 customers in communities along Highway 10 in Nictaux, including Middleton East, and Victoria Vale.

Stacy Pineo, of Nova Scotia Power, said that this latest outage is related to the forest fire in Nictaux. Under the direction of the fire department, they are trying to localize areas that are safe to bring back electricity.

“We’re working with the fire department to sectionalize areas that are safe to restore,” she said. “We’re hoping to have to have most locations back up by 2 p.m.”

There are still a handful of customers in the area that are waiting for storm-related repairs, she said.
