Kings County Coun. Mike Ennis will replace Warden Diana Brothers on the planning advisory committee.

There will be a change in councillor representation on the County of Kings planning advisory committee.

Kings County council voted at the May 20 committee of the whole meeting to replace Warden Diana Brothers with Coun. Mike Ennis. Coun. Wayne Atwater will become the designated alternate council member of the planning advisory committee. He will attend if one of the appointed council representatives is unable to attend.

Brothers said she volunteered to serve on planning advisory, as they were having difficulty filling the council positions. She said Ennis offered to replace her. Atwater had expressed an interest in serving on the committee, so she thought making him an alternate would be a good way to get him involved.

Ennis said the “numbers were scarce” when they were looking for councillors to sit on planning advisory, so he volunteered, “to take some of the workload off” the Warden.

Council recently re-established the planning advisory committee, pursuant to the Municipal Government Act. It’s to be made up of eight members, five councillors and three citizen appointees.

For the record, this article seems to imply that the Warden has been active on this committee up to this point. The fact is that the PAC has only met twice since it was reinstated (April 22 and May 13) and my notes record that the Warden attended neither meeting. The committee will no doubt welcome more active participation from Councillor Ennis.
