An out of service Kings Transit bus went off the highway ramp in Aylesford April 1.

A Kings Transit bus that slipped off a highway shoulder in Aylesford was out of service at the time and carrying no passengers.

Kings Transit acting general manager Stephen Foster said the bus was on its way back to the garage at the time of the incident, reported to Aylesford firefighters following a call from a passing motorist at 4:33 p.m. April 1. Foster confirmed that the driver was not injured in the minor incident, which occurred on the westbound ramp of Exit 16.

There were “very minor” damages to the bus, nothing serious enough to keep it out of service.

“There was snow on the shoulder,” Foster said of driving conditions at the time. “It was just bad conditions.”

When asked about the incident on April 1, RCMP spokesman Blair MacMurtery reported deteriorating driving conditions on some sections of Highway 101 that afternoon due to the weather.
