UPDATED: Freezing rain, rain warnings in effect for Kings County

Freezing rain and rain warnings are now in effect for Kings County.

Environment Canada is forecasting an extended period of freezing rain, followed by rain for the area with up to 70 mm of rain possible before Monday.


Saturday will be warm and wet, with a forecast of periods of drizzle or showers ending this morning and then mainly cloudy with a high of 9 C.

A freezing rain warning is in effect for Saturday night with Environment Canada calling for a few rain showers near midnight to change to freezing rain.

The weather agency is warning of an extended period of freezing rain forecast for overnight tonight and Sunday.

Freezing rain is expected to change to rain Sunday afternoon, with rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm,  Wind becoming northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning then east 30 gusting to 50 in the afternoon. Sunday's forecast high is  1 C.
