A Church Point family is safe after fire destroyed their home last Monday night.

Little Brook Fire Chief Michel LeBlanc said they were called about 7:30 p.m. on March 10 to  a smoke-filled house on Patrice Road in Church Point.

“Upon arrival we found the home pretty much fully engulfed, both at the back and front,” said LeBlanc. “We called in St. Bernard, Havelock and Meteghan to help battle the fire.”

The fire chief said firefighters were able to contain most of the fire and the structure was still standing when the blaze was extinguished.

“The walls of the home were still standing when we got the fire out but the building itself is not liveable,” said the fire chief. “The family escaped from their home and got out safely.”

LeBlanc said they have found another home for the time being.

Little Brook Fire Department was back at their hall by 12:45 a.m.

LeBlanc said the deputy fire marshall completed his investigation on Tuesday morning and deemed the cause electrical.
