RCMP apprehend potential robbery suspect

With the assistance of the Digby RCMP, the Annapolis County RCMP arrested a 34-year-old man on Tuesday, March 4, in relation to an incident at a local Cafe.


At approximately 1:20 p.m., Annapolis County RCMP received a 911 call from staff at Myrtles and Rosie's Cafe indicating a man had been in the Cafe with a knife in his pocket.

The caller also indicated that the man had fled the store after stealing a number of items. 

Members from Digby RCMP were alerted and a Digby member who was in the area located the suspect a short distance away. The suspect was arrested without incident and two knives and a number of items were seized from him.

The suspect was transported to Digby cells and lodged over night.

Mark Anthony Higdon of Digby County was charged with theft under $5,000 and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public. He appeared in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court on Wednesday, March 5, pled guilty and received one year probation.

    Depending on the kind of knife. It is a weapon. A small pocket knife no. But some of the ones from Walmart in the case they are. You need assistance bringing it out of the store
