Another public meeting to discuss Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood’s All Hands on Deck initiative is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, and the mayor says concerns that have been raised about the project will be addressed at that meeting.
The session is set for 6 to 9 p.m. and will be held at the Rodd Grand Hotel.
This will be a follow-up to the well-attended meeting that was held last September at the Mariners Centre.
All Hands on Deck was launched in an effort to get the community involved in improving the area and putting the Yarmouth area on a positive path as it got ready to welcome a new ferry.
While All Hands on Deck was very well received, questions were raised during town council’s committee-of-the-whole meeting of Feb. 27 regarding liability and insurance issues and whether the line perhaps should be drawn more clearly between what All Hands on Deck is doing and what the town is doing.
Councillor Phil Mooney asked that the issue be added to the meeting’s agenda.
Councillor Danny MacIsaac said he shared Mooney’s concerns, but he emphasized that he feels All Hands on Deck is a good initiative.
Mayor Mood said the issues raised were valid ones and that they will be addressed.
“At the follow-up meeting we’ll ensure that we help everybody understand what the parameters are, where the town fits, where the community fits, and we’ll put it all together and we’ll keep moving forward,” she said.
