A Shelburne man who was on house arrest is in jail and will be facing more drug charges as a result of a search on Feb. 17.

A Shelburne man on house arrest has been sent to jail after a search of a George Street residence by RCMP.

On Feb. 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) executed a search warrant at a residence on George Street.  No one was home at the time but police located a male resident a short time later two blocks away on the same street.  Officers seized a quantity of marijuana from the man and another quantity of marijuana and drug related property that was found at the residence.  Approximately 30 grams of individually packaged marijuana was seized in total.  At the time of his arrest, the Shelburne man was subject to a court imposed Conditional Sentence Order with a house arrest provision in relation to a conviction for drug trafficking in December.

As a result of this new drug charge the Conditional Sentence Order (including house arrest) was revoked and the man was ordered into custody to serve the remaining term of his sentence.

Vincent William Buchanan, 34, of Shelburne will appear in Shelburne Provincial Court on April in relation to the latest drug charges.
