Employees of Queens Manor Home for Special Care have unanimously ratified a new contract with the facility in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
CUPE National Representative Tammy Provost says, "The members of Local 2684 voted 100 per cent in favour of the new deal, which not only beat back a major concession on sick leave, but contains improvements.
"Anytime we can protect benefits that already in place while gaining other improvements, we've done our job for those employees. The membership stuck together and we ended up with a fair deal," says Provost.
Local 2648 members had voted 98 per cent in favour of job action in a strike vote held in August, 2013.
Manor administration had said a lack of funding was their reason for asking for reduction in sick time.
