There were a few close calls with the latest batch of heavy snowfall that blanketed Hants County Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Cpl. Don Dignan, of the Windsor RCMP, said members were dispatched to a collision involving a pickup truck and car that was nearly head-on, but on an angle, around 4:24 p.m. Feb. 5.

The accident occurred along Highway 215 in Newport Corner.

Dignan says the vehicles were towed from the scene, but no one was seriously injured. He says the road conditions were slippery at the time of the crash.

Members also responded to single-vehicle accidents along the Wentworth Road and in Garlands Crossing, Dignan noted.

“It was steady there for awhile,” he added.

No serious injuries were reported from the single-vehicle accidents.

Dignan advises motorists to leave early and drive slow when travelling on snow-covered roads.
