Fire interrupted a 7-year old’s birthday party at the Little Brook bowling alley tonight, Friday, Jan. 24.

The mother was about to cut the child’s cake about 7:30 p.m. when someone noticed smoke coming out from around the bowling pins.

About two-dozen people were in the alley at the time and everyone was able to leave with out any trouble.

The fire was contained to the furnace building behind and separate from the main building.

Little Brook, Saint Bernard and Meteghan Fire Departments responded.

Flames were visible when fire fighters arrived and had spread up into the rafters of the small furnace building where firewood is also stored.

Little Brook fire chief Michel LeBlanc confirmed the fire was contained to the furnace room and there was only smoke in the bowling alley.

As of 9 p.m. Saint Bernard and Meteghan had left the scene and Little Brook was still mopping up.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
