It's cold right now but January "thaw" on the way

According to Environment Canada, temperatures will be on their way up after another chilly night.

Today, there will be a mix of sun and cloud with 60 percent chance of flurries. Clearing late this afternoon with brisk northwest winds of 30 km/h gusting to 50. High minus 4.Tonight will be clear, with a low temperature of minus 9 except minus 16 in low lying inland areas.

Then it gets warmer.

On Friday, the national weather forecaster says temperatures will rise throughout the day.There will be a 60 percent chance of flurries late in the afternoon and early in the evening then 60 percent chance of rain showers in the evening. High plus 2. On Saturday the temperatures will get even warmer at plus nine and according to Environment Canada will remain on the plus side for at least the next three days.

There are periods of rain in the forecast for Sunday.
